Tartean agertu diren erromatar aztarna hauek kontutan hartuta, oso litekeena da bigarren mailako galtzada izatea Tritium Tiboricum (Astigarribia, Mutriku) ab Asturica Burdigalam galtzada nagusiarekin lotzeko, Kantauri isurialdeko beste hainbat tokitan gertatzen den moduan. Deba arroan Veleiatik etorrita Kurzetatik sartuko zen, edo Suessatio (Arkaia) edo Mariturri-tik hasita Arlabanetik. Bi kasuetan, erromatar bidea Soraluzetik pasatuko zen, bai ala bai: ibaiaren ezkerraldetik iritsiko zen, gaur egunean zubi nagusia dagoen tokiraino, eta bertan ibaia zeharkatu eta Debaren eskumaldetik, poliki poliki gora igotzen zen Maltzagako labarrak saihesteko; azkenean, Elgoibar aldera jaitsiko zen.
Bide hau ez zuten erromatarrek asmatuko; bidea aurretik izango zen, eta erromatarrek zabaldu eta egonkortu egingo zuten.

XVIII mende bukaeran Maltzagako lotunea zabaldu arte, bide sarea erromatarren garaitik edota aurretik antolatuta egongo zen, ezzen asko aldatu. Eta Soraluze zen ingurutako komunikabide gune garrantzitsuena.
Sare honek bi ardatz zituen, hegoalde-iparraldekoa eta mendebalde-ekialdekoa. Lehenak, Deba arroaren bidez Gasteiz itsasoarekin lotzen zuen. Bergara eta Osintxu bidez Soraluzera heltzen zen Deba ibaiaren ertzetik, eta hemendik Elgoibarrera, baina Ezozia eta San Rokeera igotzen, altura hartzeko eta Maltzagako labarrak saihesteko.
Bigarren ardatza mendebalde-ekialdekoa zen; aurrekoak baino garraio gutxiago zuen, distantzia luzeetan (Bilbao-Donostia, esateko) itsasotik azkarrago zelako. Eibartik Azitainera Ego ibaiaren ondotik egin eta gero, Azitainetik gora egiten zuen, Irureraino. Arrazoia aurrekoaren berbera zen, Maltzagako labarrak saihestea. Iruretik Soraluzera jaiesten zen, bidea Zabale, Sagar-erreka eta San Martzialetik pasatzen zela. Soraluzen ibaia zeharkatu eta San Andresetik eta Askabeititik Mendigainera heltzen zen. Altura galdu bage Irukurutzeraraino egiten zuen eta handik Azkoitiaraino jeisten zen, gero Azpeitia, Zestoa...
Sare honek herriaren kokapena baldintzatu zuen: bidegurutzean bertan, Deba ibaiaren ibiaren ondoan. Eta beste eraikin zahar asko, gaur egun mendi eta bailaretan sakabanatuta agertzen direla, aspaldiko errege bideen errzetan eraikk ziren: Arregia dorretxea, Atxuriko etxea, Espilla baserria, Irure zaharra edo Hamengoa, Irure Handikoa...

2000 urteko hamarkadan Eusko Jaurlaritzak Eskoriatza eta Maltzaga lotuko zituen tranbiaren proiektua bultzatu zuen. Tranbia berri honen laugarren fasea (Bergara-Maltzaga) Soraluzetik pasako zen.
Proiektua 2005 urtean aurkeztu zen Debagoieneko herritan, baina gobernuaren aldaketa batetik, eta udalek jarritako alegazioak bestetik, azkenean bertan behera geratu zen.
